Cairns

Although quite well known - Cairns is in the remote far north of the Queensland coast. The town is a low-rise sprawling area with wonderful beaches and a tropical climate. It is considered the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef- so take this chance for a once-in-a-lifetime swim, snorkel or even scuba dive in the aquarium of Australia’s East Coast. Port Douglas

Port Douglas is a town on the Coral Sea in the tropical far north of Queensland, Australia. It's known for its beach resorts and as a base for visits to both the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest reef system, and Daintree National Park, home to biodiverse rainforest. In town, Macrossan Street is lined with boutique shops and restaurants. Curving south is popular Four Mile Beach.

Willis Island

Located roughly 450 kilometres east of Cairns, Willis Island is the only permanently inhabited island in the Coral Sea. The island is quite small and is only around 7.7 hectares. Cruise ships do not actully stop here - they sail around it to allow them to technically leave Australian territory to open duty free shopping on board and the casino while doing an Australian coastal and Great Barrier  Reef cruise.
