River tubing on Dominica is particularly special as is the French flair of Martinique. Perhaps sail the coastline of Central America visiting Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras before sailing onto to the famed Montego Bay and the wonderful tip of the Florida Keys at Key West.

Oranjestad (Aruba)

Aruba is situated just 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela at the Southern end of the Caribbean. This island is just 5 Miles wide by 19 Miles long so getting around does not take long and is relatively in-expensive. The north side of the island has an exposed rocky coast while the south coast has the soft white sand beaches, great shopping, stunning sea and desert landscape views. All of this can be experienced from the capital Oranjestad with its heavy Dutch influences. The closet beaches to the capital are Surfside Beach and Druif Beach both with soft white sand. Aruba is a mecca for American tourist and beach holidays. Ships moor at the quayside and it is a short walk into town.

Overnight on board in port.

Curaçao

The volcanic island of Curaçao is sandwiched in between Bonaire and Aruba and is lies in the far South of the Caribbean just 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela. The capital Willemstad is a cosy Dutch haven with its neat row houses which are 17th and 18th century Dutch colonial buildings. Visit the Hato Caves formed from coral reefs, the freshwater waterfall and Shete Boka National Park with its limestone tidal cavern. The Ostrich Farm is the largest outside of Africa where you can feed the birds and watch the Ostrich dance. Best souvenir buys are Delft pottery and of course the Sapphire Blue Liqueur – Curacao.

Grenada

Known as the Spice island where the aromas of Nutmeg, cinnamon and Cocoa hang in the air. This volcanic island with tropical rainforests and waterfalls lies at the southern end of the Windward Island chain. Most ships dock at the quayside, and the closest beach is Grand Anse beach -a two mile stretch of white sand. Perhaps visit the Grand Etang cobalt blue lake and take a refreshing dip in the Royal Mt Carmel waterfall or perhaps go river tubing on the Balthazar River. There is also the unique underwater sculpture park at Molinere Point for keen snorkelers.

St Thomas (US Virgin Islands)

St Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands and THE duty free shopper's paradise in the Caribbean. Charlotte Amalie is the capital – and this quaint town is a joy to walk around with its cobbled streets and alley ways filled with the best shops in the Caribbean – but not so much "in your face" as the other islands. Unlike most of the other islands this is the US of A in the Caribbean – it is clean, organised and well run; you may think that you are in one of the Florida Keys. The best beach is Magens Bay (voted one of the top 10 beaches of the world) and is approximately 6 miles away from the capital on the other side of the island.

Martinique

Quirky historical sites complement European flair and Caribbean beauty on this French outpost. With croissants and palm trees, all perched near a live volcano, Martinique is the definition of a refined French-Caribbean island – fashionable and elegant, with an abundance of flora. Filled with ruins and monuments, Martinique has been French, with a few interruptions, since 1635, and as an overseas department of France (since 1946), it revels in French history and savoir-faire. Tourism is important, but so are banana farming, cane raising, and the rum business. With two world-class monarchs among its progeny - Napoleon's empress Josephine, and Aimé Dubuc de Rivery, who was kidnapped at sea and made Sultana Validá, mother of Turkey's Sultan Mahmoud II - the island delights in historical oddities. Its many small museums focus on curiosities such as banana farming and ancient island civilizations.

Tortola (UK Virgin Islands)

Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands and as a result they drive on the left (as in the UK) – confusing the American tourists! Road Town is the capital and is nestled at bottom of a backdrop of mountains. There are 2 cruise terminals within walking distance to the shops. Just up an over the mountain on the other side of the island is the popular Cane Garden Beach - this is a lovely palm fringed sweep of white sand. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get there with some magnificent views of the island and the cost is $6 in a shared minibus / taxi. There is an opportunity to swim with the dolphins in the dolphin sanctuary just to the South of Road Town. Also another must here are the Baths at Virgin Gorda – the massive volcanic boulders which form secluded pools and grottos.

Enjoy an uninterrupted relaxing day at sea making the most of the facilities and dining on board.
