Seattle

Seattle is perhaps not the best known American city for British cruisers but it is a city which has lots to offer during a 1 or 2 night stay. The shopping here is excellent, as is the dining and bars for some lively nightlife. Pike Place Market is a focal point in the downtown area and just steps away from the waterfront. Pioneer Square marks Seattle's original downtown area dating back to 1852 and is home to art galleries , cafes , sports bars and nightclubs. The Seattle Underground Tour ($16pp) can be found here and is well worth it as you have a chance to visit eerie sunken store fronts and forgotten streets which were at the original ground level before the Great Fire of 1889. These were covered up and built on in an effort to clean up the city in the second half of the 19th century. For the best views of the city visit the Space Needle which was built for the World's Fair in 1962. This 605 foot tower is the equivalent to 60 floors high and houses the revolving Sky City restaurant open for lunch a dinner daily. It was built to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour and earthquakes of up to 9.1 in magnitude! At the Boeing Factory see how airplanes are built on this 4.5-hour small-group trip to the largest building in the world. Spend 90 minutes in the massive Boeing assembly plant and see a variety of different planes in production such as the 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, and Dreamliner aircraft . Then explore the interactive exhibits and displays in the Aviation Centre Gallery and visit the educational Future of Flight Aviation Centre museum.

At sea cruising the inside passage

Enjoy an uninterrupted day of relaxation at sea making the most of the entertainment, facilities and dining options on board.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan, known as the Salmon Capital of the World, is a quaint village just three miles long and three blocks wide, wedged between the water and the forested slopes of Deer Mountain. Much of the native village is propped up on wooden pilings, and the Totem Heritage Center houses the world’s largest collection of authentic totem poles.

Beyond the town, you can explore the surrounding wilderness, where there’s an excellent chance of spotting bald eagles soaring effortlessly over the inlets in search of salmon — a sight that perfectly captures the spirit of Alaska’s rugged beauty.

Sitka

Sitka, located on Baranof Island in Alaska’s Inside Passage, lies at the heart of the vast Tongass National Forest — the largest temperate rainforest in the world. This spectacular wilderness covers most of Southeast Alaska and offers the chance to see eagles, bears, spawning salmon, and sweeping vistas that define the untamed beauty of wild Alaska.

The town itself has a distinctive character, shaped by both Tlingit culture and Russian heritage. Surrounded by island-studded waters, jagged mountain peaks, and the presence of a towering volcano, Sitka combines dramatic scenery with a fascinating cultural story that makes it one of Alaska’s most unique ports.

Tracy Arm Fjord

Tracy Arm Fjord is one of Alaska’s most spectacular scenic cruising stops, located about 50 miles southeast of Juneau — and best of all, it can be experienced for free from the decks of your ship.

Here, the mighty Sawyer Glacier has carved a dramatic fjord with sheer vertical cliffs that rise thousands of feet above the water. As you cruise through, you may witness enormous blocks of ice calving from Alaska’s most active tidewater glacier, thundering into the fjord and creating the region’s largest icebergs. The scene is both powerful and unforgettable — a true highlight of any Inside Passage voyage.

Prince Rupert, British Columbia

Prince Rupert is a Canadian port on Kaien Island in British Columbia very close to the Alaskan border 465 miles away from Vancouver and 317 miles away from Juneau. It has a history dating back to over 5000 years but more recently served as the terminus for the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway in the early 1900’s. It was named after the first governor of the famous Hudson’s Bay Trading Company. Perhaps visit Cow Bay with its vibrant hub of boutiques, restaurants, cafes and cow puns. Or the Museum of Northern British Columbia, The Wheelhouse Brewey or Dollys for great Seafood and fish n’ chips.

Enjoy an uninterrupted day of relaxation at sea making the most of the entertainment, facilities and dining options on board.

Disembark the ship after breakfast and make your own way to the airport for your overnight flight home.
