Over a two-day journey, guests travel from the fertile farmlands of the Fraser Valley, through  desert-like Interior landscape, and on to the craggy peaks, glaciers, and the wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.

Over a leisurely lunch the train starts is decent through the Rocky Mountains and through the Spiral Tunnels. After a full day on the train, we arrive into Kamloops with time to have dinner and a good night’s rest in a hotel.

Icy Straight Point

Icy Straight Point is a privately owned island operated by the native Tlingit Nation. Located near the village of Hoonah, it offers breathtaking waterfront restaurants, scenic walking trails, a free museum, a live native show, and plenty of shopping. For those looking to relax, Icy Straight Point even has a charming beach to enjoy.

Hubbard Glacier

The Hubbard Glacier makes another scenic cruising stop. This is the longest tidewater glacier in Alaska, extending 76 miles from its source on Mt. Logan in the Yukon. The cliff face you sail along is over six miles wide, 300 to 400 feet from the top to sea level, and 300 feet from sea level to the bottom. As Hubbard is advancing, it creaks and groans as it moves and is a very actively calving glacier. This makes for some exciting moments when huge chunks of ice crash into the bay, creating a wonderful sound called “white thunder” by the Tlingit people.

Small icebergs, sometimes with seabirds or seals resting on them, float in the water, which is glacial blue. Seals calve on the icebergs here, as Orca whales do not visit the bay.

Juneau

Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is perched on a hillside where the historic downtown buildings give the city a charming frontier feel. Towering 4,000-foot mountains create a dramatic backdrop, making the setting truly unforgettable.

Beyond the city lies the vast Juneau Icefield, from which more than 30 glaciers flow — the most famous being the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. Rich in history, Juneau was shaped by the gold rush era and remains deeply connected to Tlingit culture, blending frontier heritage with Native traditions.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan, known as the Salmon Capital of the World, is a quaint village just three miles long and three blocks wide, wedged between the water and the forested slopes of Deer Mountain. Much of the native village is propped up on wooden pilings, and the Totem Heritage Center houses the world’s largest collection of authentic totem poles.

Beyond the town, you can explore the surrounding wilderness, where there’s an excellent chance of spotting bald eagles soaring effortlessly over the inlets in search of salmon — a sight that perfectly captures the spirit of Alaska’s rugged beauty.

Enjoy an uninterrupted day of relaxation at sea taking advantage of the facilities, entertainment and dining options on board.

Disembark the ship after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home.
