Manaus

Manaus marks the furthest point that most cruise ships can reach up the Amazon. It is situated approximately 900 miles upriver from the coast at a major fork of the Amazon where the Rio Solimoes meets the Rio Negro to form the main Amazon River. Enjoy the mesmerizing spectacle of the meeting of the waters where the cooler sandy-coloured water of the Amazon River and the warmer and clearer black water of the Rio Negro collide. You would expect two rivers that meet to blend into one another but that is not the case here as the two types of water flow distinctly side by side for a further 6km beyond Manaus.

Make your way to the river cruise termnal to embark the boat. Set off on an extraordinary journey into the heart of the Amazon, where the mysteries of the rainforest meet the beauty of the Amazon River. This cruise invites you to navigate the legendary waters of the Rio Negro and Solimões (the upper Amazon), where the famous Meeting of the Waters unfolds—a spectacular natural phenomenon.

You will explore stunning landscapes of winding rivers, lush forests, and vibrant floating villages teeming with authentic local
life. Each stop offers a deep dive into local culture and wild nature: meet indigenous communities, and discover their ancestral traditions,
and spiritual rites.. You’ll be accompanied by expert naturalists and guides who will help you spot pink dolphins, caimans, exotic birds, and elusive jaguars. Beyond nature, this adventure opens the door to a rich history marked by missionaries, explorers, and rubber trade legends.

At sunrise, board a private motorized boat for an early-morning birdwatching excursion on the lakes and the narrow channels connecting the lakes to the main river-upstream from the Purus River. This is the perfect time to spot herons, white or blue egrets, hear the chorus of jacanas (graceful water hens), and witness the majestic flight of fishing eagles. In the afternoon, meet riverside communities who make their living fishing giant catfish, and visit traditional floating houses.

We'll spend the rest of the afternoon cruising, relax and take in the ever-changing scenery along the riverbanks: colourful stilt houses or floating homes, scenes of fishermen casting their nets, children and women bathing or doing laundry, goods being loaded onto boats, and abundant wildlife. Perhaps take an optional nighttime expedition by private motorboat offers a chance to spot nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.

Purus River

The Purus River is one of the Amazon’s longest and most meandering tributaries, flowing over 3,200 km from Peru’s Ucayali region through Brazil’s Acre and Amazonas states before joining the Solimões. Its vast basin spans over 360,000 km², with immense floodplains, oxbow lakes, and wetlands supporting rich biodiversity and Indigenous communities.

In the morning, board a private boat to explore the rich Amazonian wildlife and lush flora. On the way back, stop at a local açaí producer who will introduce you to the cultivation of this magical berry—harvested from a palm tree and renowned for its high vitamin C and antioxidant content. Then, visit a charming Amazonian town where the vibrant energy of the market, local crafts, and bustling daily life offer a glimpse into a thriving culture.

You’ll also delve into its little-known history, marked by the brave “rubber soldiers” who played a key role during World War II. In the afternoon, continue cruising and observe daily life along the riverbanks. As the day winds down, enjoy a sunset-coloured aperitif and take time to share stories and impressions with your guides.

Boca Do Badajos - Plan Vapor

Boca do Badajós sits near the Badajós River, a 413‑km tributary flowing through Amazonas into the Solimões River, surrounded by villages such as Badajós in the Codajás region. Its riverside communities  once connected to the Amazon’s steam‑navigation era, shaped by 19th‑century “vapor” routes that modernised transport and river work culture across the region.

Early morning departure for a forest walk. This area is home to one of the most majestic trees in the Amazon[1]the Brazil nut tree-whose fruits are harvested from January to June. It’s a demanding task, carried out in a forest where spotting a jaguar is not just a dream. Afternoon cruising. Mid-afternoon, enjoy a private boat excursion to observe the region’s rich wildlife and flora. Dinner onboard and continue cruising.

Early morning, board a private boat for a visit to the Spiritan Mission, the historic heart of the town of Tefé for an authentic glimpse into local Amazonian life. Return onboard and cruise toward the Mamirauá Reserve taking in the scenery along the riverbanks: colourful parrots, fishing eagles, elegant snowy egrets, and the iconic pink and gray river dolphins of the Amazon.

In the afternoon, visit a local community, followed by a private boat excursion through nearby lakes and into the primary forest in search of the Uacari monkey.

Tefe - Lake Mamirua Estuary

Tefé sits on the lake at the mouth of the Tefé River beside the vast Mamirauá Reserve, a 11,000‑km² flooded‑forest ecosystem famed for pink river dolphins, caimans, white uacaris, and immense birdlife. The Mamirauá estuary’s seasonal floods create rich habitats supporting ribeirinho and Indigenous communities, making Tefé the main gateway for wildlife viewing, canoe trips, and immersive Amazon exploration.

At dawn, depart in a private boat to witness the awakening of the forest. This magical moment, bathed in golden morning light, is a true paradise for birdwatchers: cormorants, egrets, and other birds take flight by the dozens from their roosts to the lakes and rivers where they feed. Return onboard for an afternoon of cruising. Enjoy the captivating parade of the river: stilt houses, sock-shaped hanging nests sheltering yellow and-black plumaged japins, noisy parrots in flight, boats loaded with colorful hammocks, children steering their canoes offering forest fruits and roots. A true life-sized adventure film. Late in the day, before sunset, set out again in a private boat for one last immersion in the local wildlife and flora. Dinner and overnight onboard your ship.

Fonte Boa - Mamirua Reserve

Fonte Boa lies in the heart of the Amazon along the Japurá River and forms over half (52%) of the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve, one of the world’s richest flooded‑forest ecosystems. This vast reserve protects Amazonian wetlands, endangered wildlife, and traditional communities, making Fonte Boa a gateway to pristine várzea forests, biodiversity, and authentic river‑based culture.

Morning departure by private boat to explore the many winding channels between the islands around Fonte Boa. This region thrives on sustainable fishing of the pirarucu, known as the "Amazonian cod." This giant of the waters, reaching up to two meters and weighing over a hundred kilos, is famous for its delicate flesh and powerful jaws. You'll also have the chance to try your hand at piranha fishing. Afternoon cruising followed by another nature excursion to observe the surrounding wildlife and flora. Dinner and overnight onboard your ship.

Terra Nova Island

Ilha Terra Nova is a serene Amazonian island located in the state of Amazonas, northern Brazil, positioned along the vast waterways east of Manaus. Defined by dense rainforest, winding river channels, and quiet rural communities, the island sits near the hamlet of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, placing it firmly within the lush natural landscape of the central Amazon Basin.

Geographically, Terra Nova Island lies at approximately 3.08° S, 59.73° W, with an elevation of about 32 metres, making it a low‑lying river island shaped by seasonal Amazon River water levels. The island is surrounded by picturesque tributaries and is part of the highly biodiverse Amazonian environment, where visitors encounter rich local vegetation, riverside hamlets such as Missão Nova Tribo do Brás, and access points leading deeper into rural Amazonas.

Early morning departure by private boat for a sunrise exploration of the town of Jutaí and its surroundings, bathed in golden morning light. Return onboard and enjoy a relaxing afternoon cruising. From the deck or your cabin, take in the lively riverbanks, abundant wildlife, and lush vegetation – a true living theatre where monkeys, birds, dolphins, and butterflies perform against a magnificent backdrop. Dinner and overnight onboard your ship.

Jutai

The Jutaí–Santo Antônio do Içá corridor lies deep in the northwest of Brazil’s Amazonas state, connecting two culturally rich municipalities along major tributaries of the Amazon River. Jutaí, situated on the banks of the Jutaí River, is one of the largest municipalities in Amazonas by area and is known for its immense biodiversity, vast protected reserves, and traditional Amazonian communities. It contains parts of the Jutaí–Solimões Ecological Station, the Rio Jutaí Extractive Reserve, and the Cujubim Sustainable Development Reserve, the latter being the world’s largest sustainable development reserve—demonstrating its global ecological importance.

Jutaí’s rainforest‑fringed rivers, Indigenous heritage, and remote waterways offer exceptional opportunities for eco‑tourism, birdwatching, river expeditions, fishing, and visits to local communities. Its lush setting within the Juruá‑Purus moist forests makes it a prime destination for nature lovers seeking immersive Amazonian experiences.

Morning departure by private boat along the Içá River. A short guided walk led by members of the local indigenous community takes you to a sacred clearing, where the maloca—a large communal house and spiritual and social center of the village—stands. You will be warmly welcomed by community leaders, including the cacique (village chief), for a unique moment of exchange. At the heart of this encounter, witness the Moça Nova ritual, an initiation ceremony celebrating the transition to adulthood of young girls. A traditional lunch is served under the maloca in a simple and warm atmosphere. Late morning return onboard and continuation of cruising. Spend the afternoon relaxing, enjoying the views from the deck, or joining a naturalist outing by private boat. Dinner and overnight onboard your ship.

Ticuna Villages - Amazon

Ticuna villages are found along the upper Solimões region where Brazil, Colombia, and Peru meet, home to the most numerous Indigenous people in the Brazilian Amazon. Their settlements, once large communal malocas deep in terra firme forest, have evolved into riverside villages of 70–1,500 people shaped by seasonal floods and traditional clan life.

Early morning departure for a rare encounter with indigenous peoples. Late morning return onboard and navigation towards Tabatinga. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Colombian town of Leticia by tuk-tuk. Wander through its charming streets, explore the ethnographic museum rich with stories and artifacts of local cultures, and browse shops filled with indigenous crafts. Discover its lively market, a kaleidoscope of colors, scents, and flavours. At sunset, don’t miss one of nature’s most astonishing spectacles: thousands of parrots flock to the trees in the central park, creating a magical and surprising concert of sounds. Dinner and overnight onboard your ship.

Tabatinga

Tabatinga is a vibrant Amazonian border city located in the extreme west of Brazil’s Amazonas state, uniquely positioned at the triple frontier where Brazil, Colombia, and Peru meet. It forms a continuous urban area with the Colombian city of Leticia and sits directly on the banks of the Solimões River, the upper stretch of the Amazon River, making it a strategic gateway for river travel, cross‑border commerce, and cultural exchange.

Situated deep within the Amazon Basin, Tabatinga lies approximately 4,777 miles (7,688 km) from the Atlantic Ocean, highlighting its remarkably remote location along one of the world’s longest river systems. This distance underscores its importance as a major inland port on the Amazon River, connecting travelers and goods from Peru’s Iquitos region, Colombia’s Leticia, and onward toward Brazil’s interior and the Atlantic coast.

As a historic settlement founded in the 18th century as Forte de São Francisco Xavier de Tabatinga, the city has evolved into a bustling multicultural hub shaped by Indigenous Ticuna influence, Portuguese colonial history, and modern cross‑border trade. Its riverside markets, open borders, and proximity to rich Amazonian biodiversity make it a compelling destination for explorers seeking authentic rainforest culture and adventure.
