COTA opened in 2012, bringing this event back to the U.S. after a five-year break. Designed by Hermann Tilke with HKS, the track features a steep climb into Turn 1, fast-flowing turns (3–6), and a stadium-style section (12–15) for excellent views. Mariner of the Seas

Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas launched in November 2003 and is the fifth and final ship of the revolutionary five ship Voyager class. When these large, impressive ships were launched they were the biggest cruise ships afloat but have now been surpassed by the recent Icon class at almost double the size. Despite this – Mariner of the Seas is 1020 feet long at 138,279 tonnes and accommodates 3114 passengers at double occupancy over 15 passenger decks. There are 20 dining options, 3 pools, 6 whirlpools and 2 adrenalin pumping waterslides. There are specific areas on board for children, families and adults only which appeals to all types of holiday maker from all walks of life.

In 2018 Royal Caribbean invested $120 million into the refurbishment of Mariner of the Seas, and the results made it one of the favourite ships of Royal Caribbean.

Cozumel

Cozumel is an island just 12 miles long and situated 20 minutes ferry ride from the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Cozumel is really a staging post for cruise passengers to visit mainland Mexico with its Mayan ruins at Tulum. Cozumel town is lively with its many bars and myriad of shops. Explore the Xel Ha aquatic park with its subterranean rivers, natural pools and sacred Mayan Lagoon. We found the scuba diving here to be the best in Caribbean. The best beach is located in the Punta Sur Ecological Park.

Disembark the ship after breakfast and drive to Houston to drop off the car. Board the Amtrak train at 1210pm and travel to New Orleans. Arrive at 2140 and  enjoy an overnight stay in the French Quarter.

Meals are included at mealtimes for breakfast lunch and dinner. On some services they are in the restaurant, on other services they are in the form of packed chilled meals in your private accommodation – please call for details.

 Roomettes are 3ft 6” x 6ft 8”. Beds are 6ft x 2ft 4”. Sleeper roomettes have use of shared toilet and shower facilities in each car. Main luggage should be checked into the baggage car with hand luggage taken into your roomette. Larger bedrooms at 6ft 6”x 7ft 6” are available with larger bunk beds which include en-suite shower and toilet facilities. Please call for details, availability and upgrade costs.

The train formations vary between services and are subject to change. The Sunset Limted service is a Super Liner train with two levels and usually include a sightseer lounge car, snack bar and restaurant.

New Orleans

In New Orleans you will find a flavour of the Old South with a distinct French accent, famed for its filigree wrought-iron work in the French Quarter and Mardi Gras celebrations which herald the beginning of Lent. Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), is the last day of the Carnival season as it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Shop at the beautiful river walk and take a ride on the street car line dating back to 1835. Visit Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter where the gray spire of St Louis Cathedral towers high in the air. Bourbon Street is where the music never stops and looks much as it did during the 1700s and 1800s with buildings crowding a narrow sidewalk.
