Set off on a 10‑night all‑inclusive river cruise adventure across five iconic waterways—the Rhine, Neckar, Main, Moselle and Saar—aboard the elegant MS Leonardo da Vinci. Begin with return flights and two nights in a four‑star Basel hotel with breakfast, the perfect start before your direct train transfer to Strasbourg. From here, enjoy an 8‑night voyage through Germany’s most storied river towns, including romantic Heidelberg, historic Mainz and dynamic Frankfurt.

Cruise onward to Rüdesheim, Koblenz, Cochem and Trier, followed by the serene landscapes of Saarburg, ending in Luxembourg. With high‑quality onboard dining, included drinks and enriching daily stops, this itinerary provides an engaging mix of culture, history and scenic river cruising across central Europe.

Fly to Basel and make your way to the nearby city centre for a over nghts stay. We have chosen either the 4-star Novotel Basel City Centre or the Hotel Victoria which are in the heart of the city and close to the Main SBB train station.

Basel

Basel, set along the scenic Rhine River, offers a vibrant mix of Swiss culture, waterfront promenades, and striking architecture. Its riverside paths and bridges make it perfect for strolls and boat tours. The city is renowned for world‑class museums, including contemporary art spaces and historic collections, cementing its status as a cultural capital. With Strasbourg located about 135–140 km from Basel, it's an excellent base for cross‑border exploration and enriching day trips. [

Make your way to the nearby SBB train station for your 1hour 18 minute direct train journey to Strasbourg. On arrival in Strasbourg  make your way to the nearby river cruise terminal to embark the boat ready for 1700. The boat will cast off at 6:00 p.m. Join us for an evening of dinner and dancing as we cruise through the night.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace, is a captivating blend of French and German influences, known for its medieval charm, half‑timbered houses and vibrant cultural scene. Its historic center, the Grande Île, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring the breathtaking Strasbourg Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece crafted from pink Vosges sandstone. Visitors can wander the romantic canals of La Petite France, explore the elegant Neustadt district with its grand boulevards, and discover superb museums at Palais Rohan. Strasbourg is also home to the European Parliament, reflecting its key role in European politics. With its charming markets, inviting winstubs and scenic waterways, Strasbourg offers an unforgettable experience for every traveller.

MS Leonard da Vinci

Named after one of the most famous artists in history this standard ship sails on the Rhine, a river with cultural and natural richness.


Completely renovated in 2011, the MS Leonardo Da Vinci is an intimate-sized standard ship, measuring 105m long and 11.40m wide. It can accommodate 141 passengers, in 71 cabins spread over two decks. The cabins are comfortable and spacious, offer amenities and provide guests with all the comforts they need during their stay. The decoration, in beige and taupe tones enhanced with gold, is both discreet and elegant and pays tribute to the artist’s works.

Located on the upper deck, the restaurant, where all meals are served during the cruise, offers delicate cuisine in a refined setting, where large windows allow guests to enjoy the panorama. Also on the upper deck is the lounge / bar with a dance floor. The sun deck is the ideal place to relax and admire the landscapes, offering comfortable sun loungers, as well as a large shaded area.

We’ll spend the morning cruising the Neckar River to Heidelberg. This afternoon enjoy freetime in Heidelberg or perhaps join one of the optional excursions to see Heidelberg and its castle. The rest of the evening is yours to do as you please.

Heidelberg

Heidelberg, one of Germany’s most picturesque cities, sits along the Neckar River and is known for its romantic Old Town, cobbled lanes and vibrant university atmosphere. Its iconic Heidelberg Castle, set high above the city, offers sweeping views and showcases Gothic and Renaissance architecture, while the historic Old Bridge and the scenic Philosopher’s Walk provide classic viewpoints. Visitors can enjoy riverside strolls, boutique cafés and the charm of medieval buildings that make Heidelberg a favourite stop for culture lovers and photographers. 

We’ll spend the morning cruising the Neckar and Rhine Rivers. We’ll arrive in Mainz in the early afternoon. Enjoy freetime in Mainz or perhaps join one of the optional excursions - a tour of Mainz and the Gutenberg Museum.  We’ll arrive in Frankfurt during the night.

Mainz

Mainz, the vibrant capital of Rhineland‑Palatinate, sits along the Rhine River and blends Roman heritage, medieval charm and lively modern culture. Visitors can explore the impressive Mainz Cathedral, a landmark of Romanesque architecture that dominates the skyline, and dive into the city’s influential printing history at the Gutenberg Museum, home to original Gutenberg Bibles and historic printing tools. The Old Town offers cobbled streets, half‑timbered houses, wine taverns and bustling markets, while Mainz’s renowned wine culture reflects its position in one of Germany’s top wine‑producing regions. Beautiful riverfront views, festivals and cultural attractions make Mainz an essential stop for travellers seeking history, flavour and atmosphere. 

Enjoy freetime in Frankfurt or perhaps join one of the optional excursions - a guided tour of Frankfurt. In the afternoon the cruise continues to Rüdesheim. On our way, we’ll pass the cities of Mainz, Wiesbaden, and Eltville am Rhein before arriving in Rüdesheim at the end of the afternoon. Enjoy freetime in Rudesheim or perhaps join one of the optional excursions - a train tour of the Rüdesheim local vineyards with wine tasting,  Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet and the famous Drosselgasse.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt, set along the River Main, blends a striking modern skyline with a rich historic core. Visitors can explore the restored Old Town (Altstadt) with landmarks like the Römer and St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, stroll the scenic Museum Embankment lined with renowned museums, and enjoy panoramic city views from the Main Tower. Cultural highlights include the Goethe House, world‑class art at the Städel Museum, and vibrant neighbourhoods filled with cafés, taverns and boutiques. With its mix of heritage, contemporary architecture and riverside charm, Frankfurt offers an engaging urban experience.

This morning, we’ll pass through the beautiful and romantic Rhine Valley. Majestic castles, mysterious ruins, and famous vineyards dot the countryside known for its legendary German royalty and fabled Lorelei Rock. We’ll arrive in Koblenz mid-morning for some free time at leisure. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising the Moselle River, one of the most beautiful tributaries of the Rhine, towards Cochem. Enjoy the calm as we pass by charming villages, vineyards, and what seems like a castle on every peak. We’ll arrive in Cochem this evening. 

Koblenz

Koblenz is a highlight for Rhine and Moselle river‑cruise visitors, offering stunning views where both rivers meet at the Deutsches Eck. Explore the historic Ehrenbreitstein Fortress via the panoramic cable car, stroll the charming Old Town, and enjoy easy access to nearby castles and vineyards. Enjoy freetime in Cochem or perhaps join one of the optional excursions - a guided tour of Cochem Castle. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising to Trier.

Cochem

Cochem, a picturesque town in the Moselle Valley, is known for its half‑timbered Old Town, vineyard‑covered hills and the iconic Reichsburg Cochem, a hilltop castle rebuilt in the 19th century in a romantic Neo‑Gothic style. The castle rises high above the Moselle, offering panoramic river and valley views, while the town below features medieval lanes, market squares and scenic riverside promenades. Surrounded by wineries and hiking paths, Cochem is a favourite destination for wine lovers, history enthusiasts and travellers seeking classic Moselle charm.

Enjoy free time in Trier or perhaps join the optional guided tour of Trier, known for its well-preserved Roman and medieval buildings, the amphitheatre, the imperial baths, the Roman basilica, and the Porta Nigra, one of the best-preserved Roman city gates. Relax on board during the first part of the afternoon as we cruise on the Moselle and the Saar. We’ll arrive in Saarburg mid-afternoon. Enjoy some time on your own to discover this charming city at your own pace. Join us for an evening of entertainment on board. 

Saarburg

Saarburg, a charming town in Germany’s Moselle region, is known for its historic castle, scenic vineyards, and the impressive waterfall flowing through the old town. Visitors enjoy cobblestone streets, river cruises, and panoramic views. Saarburg blends nature, culture, and wine, offering an unforgettable travel experience in the heart of the Moselle Valley.

We’ll spend the morning cruising on the Saar and the Moselle towards Remich. Enjoy free time in Remich or perhaps join the optional excursion of a guided tour of Luxembourg City, the caves of St Martin in Remich and a winery for wine tasting. Tonight is our festive gala evening.

Remich

Remich, a picturesque town on Luxembourg’s Moselle River, is famed for its sunny vineyards, scenic promenade, and vibrant wine culture. Just 23 km from Luxembourg City Centre, it offers river cruises, charming old‑town streets, and peaceful cycling routes. With waterfront views and world‑class wineries, Remich is a perfect blend of relaxation, culture, and Moselle Valley charm.

Enjoy breakfast on board this morning before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. Make your way to the airport for your flight home.

Luxembourg

Luxembourg, a vibrant European capital, blends historic charm with modern elegance. Its UNESCO‑listed Old Town, dramatic fortress walls, and scenic valley views make it a unique destination. Visitors enjoy world‑class museums, green parks, and a thriving culinary scene.
