Mauritius
Mauritius, located in the south‑west Indian Ocean, lies just below the equator and north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Part of the Mascarene Islands, its nearest neighbours are Réunion (220 km) and Rodrigues (560 km east). The island spans roughly 1,865–2,040 km² with volcanic mountains, a central plateau around 600 m high, and over 150 km of coral‑ringed beaches.
Visitors can explore Le Morne Brabant, Chamarel Seven‑Coloured Earth, waterfalls, hiking trails, UNESCO sites and exceptional lagoons. Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate with warm summers (Nov–Apr) and cooler, drier winters (May–Oct), making May–October ideal for outdoor adventures and November–April perfect for beach relaxation.
